Definition of Techniques:
Vocal Function Exercises (VFEs) are a series of systematic voice manipulations (similar in theory to physical therapy). VFEs were developed as a physiological approach for treating voice disorders by directly manipulating the underlying anatomy and physiology that is important for a healthy voice production.
Overall Goal:
This therapy is designed to coordinate and strengthen the laryngeal musculature, increase/improve vocal fold adduction, improve stamina, and maximize glottal efficiency.
What Kinds of Clients Benefits:
Clients with Hypo-functional voice disorders: weakness, breathiness, vocal fatigue
Clients with glottal incompetence ( vocal folds don't fully adduct/close properly)
Clients with aging voice/ presbylaryngis
Clients with vocal fold atrophy/bowing weak vocal cords
Occupational/Vocational Voice users that use their voice on a daily basis for long durations of time.
Speech Language Pathologists or other Voice Professionals
